I created this fully responsive static website and it took me two weeks to complete. I know it probably shouldn’t have taken me two weeks, but it’s not easy to think of a design and coming up with the overall concept of a website, and seeing as how I think of the design as I create the website, it takes me longer to complete a website. I created for someone who wanted me to create a website for his yoga practice. He ended up not using it, but I think it’s still a pretty decent design and I like it, you can find it here.
Sometimes when I start a website I don’t have a complete idea of what the website is going to look like because I don’t design them beforehand, which I think is bad practice, and I plan on changing that in the future, but in the meantime this is my process. I want to start to get into the habit of designing in Photoshop, however, I do like a blank slate.
The person wanted a static website. So initially I had no idea what the website is going to look like. So I go online and look for some inspiration but I wanted to keep it simple this person wanted just a simple static web page. I kind of had an idea of how I wanted the website to look after looking at a few designs, I kind of had an idea of how I wanted the site to look. Several people thought I had used some sort of filter to create the tint, but I added the tint in Photoshop. I duplicated the image then I added a new layer filled the layer with Burnt Sienna and changed the screen mode to Pin Light. It has a fully functional BootStrap form at the bottom of the site and is completely responsive for mobile devices.
Overall, I like the way this website turned out. I never know how exactly what the website will look like until I complete it, and I’m very happy with the results. If you have any advice or comments, I’d love to hear it in the comments below.
Update: It’s October 7, and the person who originally wanted me to make the website contacted me in September to complete it, which I did. He added a few images to personalize it, I made adjustments to it, and he was very happy. It was a bit of struggle, we kept going back and forth, he wanted things that I had never done in a website before, and I didn’t mind at all I like trying new features that I’d never attempted. There was a point where I just had to tell him, basically, I’m spending a lot of time on this site and there’s an extent to which I’m willing to keep working and adding items to this site, but in the end it turned out pretty nice. I also made a few logos for him and he ended up purchasing the files for the logos. So this website that I initially made free of charge, I still ended up making a profit from it! It’s a completely different design from what I originally made, but it still turned out pretty good. You can view the website here: kundaliniyogatribeca.com
